The American Academy of Arts and Letters has awarded a total of $195,000 to the sixteen recipients of this year’s awards in music. They are Travis Alford, Christopher Cerrone, David Fulmer, Stacy Garrop, Ryan Lindveit, Wynton Marsalis (in photo), Sato Matsui, Paul Mortilla, Reinaldo Moya, John Musto, Elizabeth Ogonek, Tanner Porter, Marco-Adrian Ramos, Gity Razaz, Daniel Bernard Roumain, and Miles Walter. The winners were selected by Academy committee members Samuel Adler (chairman), Robert Beaser, Martin Bresnick, Sebastian Currier, David Rakowski, Melinda Wagner, and Ellen Taaffe Zwilich. The awards will be presented at the Academy’s annual ceremony in May. Candidates for music awards are nominated by the 250 members of the Academy.
