The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will present readings of new works by emerging composers Brian Nabors (Rise), Marian L. Harrison Stephens (Out of Kilter), Anthony Tidd (Sa & Atalangana), and Kerwin Young (American Caravan) on March 6 and 9 at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Detroit. The readings are co-presented with EarShot, an initiative of American Composers Orchestra in partnership with American Composers Forum, League of American Orchestras, and New Music USA. The public readings are the culmination of a March 1-4 series of private readings, feedback sessions, and work with mentor composers Gabriela Lena Frank and Derek Bermel; Jonathan Bailey Holland, the DSO’s Classical Roots composer-in-residence; and conductor André Raphel. The DSO EarShot residency also includes work with DSO teaching artists, guest composer Jessie Montgomery, and ACO Education Director Kevin James.
