“What could possibly induce five members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra to drive all the way out here from the City of Champions during the dead of winter?” writes David Noel Edwards in Wednesday’s (3/6) Berkshire Edge (Pittsfield, MA). The musicians will perform March 10 in a free concert at a school in New Lebanon, New York. “The main reason … is because they enjoy performing music we usually don’t associate with the BSO: folk, especially in the traditional Celtic style. BSO fiddler and crossover artist Bonnie Bewick has been making music with her brother, guitarist and songwriter Ken Bewick, since they were children. Billing themselves as ‘Frame,’ the two (often joined by BSO bassist Lawrence Wolfe) have performed together in local venues like No. Six Depot in West Stockbridge.” Also performing Sunday will be BSO violinist Si-Jing Huang and Ala Jojatu and cellist Mickey Katz. “Before Sunday’s performance … the BSO’s associate director of program publications, Robert Kirzinger, will interview one or more of the musicians on stage…. Each community chamber concert program is followed by a coffee and dessert reception for the audience and musicians.”
