On Wednesday, March 20, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the Historic New Orleans Collection will present a free concert in St. Louis Cathedral, entitled “Direct from New Orleans!” The program is part of the 13th installment of Musical Louisiana: America’s Cultural Heritage, a series examining different aspects of the state’s contributions to classical music. This year’s concert will highlight the New Orleans composers and performers who took to the road and shared homegrown New Orleans sounds with a worldwide audience. The Historic New Orleans Collection is a museum, research center, and publisher founded in 1966 whose mission is to preserve the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South. The 7:30pm concert will be live-streamed at LPOmusic.com and WLAE.com.
