On March 23, Orchestra Kentucky will perform the world premiere of Dick Tunney’s Peanuts Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, led by Music Director Jeff Reed and featuring Jeffrey Biegel as soloist, at SKyPAC in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The concerto features a three-movement setting of Vince Guaraldi’s music from the Peanuts television specials, and is co-presented with Lee Mendelson Film Productions, publisher of Guaraldi’s music. In November, the Seattle-based orchestra Philharmonia Northwest will perform the work’s West Coast premiere, led by Music Director Julia Tai. Biegel performs widely with orchestras, and is featured in Kenneth Fuchs’s Piano Concerto: Spiritualist on the Naxos recording that won the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Classical Compendium, with the London Symphony Orchestra led by JoAnn Falletta.
