JANEY CHOI has been named to the new position of director of community engagement and education at the Stamford Symphony in Connecticut. She will be responsible for the orchestra’s community engagement and education work, and will facilitate opportunities for the orchestra to engage with the wider Fairfield County communities and school systems. Choi is currently a teaching artist for the New York Philharmonic and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center as well as a part-time music teacher/violin faculty at the Town School in New York City. She has hosted young people’s concerts, worked with public school systems to create and teach curricula with teachers, designed and performed interactive school and family concerts, and coached high school orchestra and band programs. She holds a bachelor of music and a master of music from the Juilliard School as well as a doctor of musical arts from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
