“On many Friday mornings throughout the fall and winter, it’s common to see Henry Ford Village [retirement community] residents at a Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in midtown Detroit,” writes Adam Sterling in Wednesday’s (4/3) Press and Guide (Southgate, MI). “This spring … a portion of that world-class orchestra is coming to Dearborn to perform for residents in the community’s beautiful chapel. A series of three concerts are on the schedule thanks to the generosity of one of the not-for-profit community’s board of directors, Peter Falzon. The inaugural performance in March featured DSO flutists Amanda Blaikie and Adam Sadberry, as well as Jeffery Zook, whose music education background includes the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Michigan…. The concert series continues with the second concert scheduled for April. It features the string quartet of Abraham Feder, Hai-Xin Wu, Hang Su, and Jiamin Wing. A string quintet is set to end the trio of performances in May, with Laurie Goldman, Eun Park Lee, Shanda Lowery-Sachs, Stephen Molina, and Paul Wingert.
