“The theme for Lima Symphony Orchestra’s 2019-2020 season will be ‘focusing forward’ as they search for its next conductor throughout the concert series,” writes Tara Jones in Tuesday’s (4/9) Lima News (OH). “Marketing and Education Coordinator Sara Chongson said though the mission remains the same, the candidates … ‘are all incredibly progressive and true to the art form. Each brings something different as far as perspective, philosophy, education and ideas.’ The audience will ride along for the audition process as each concert showcases the work of one candidate. The season will kick off Oct. 12 with conductor, violinist and advocate Nadège Foofat with ‘Songs For Our New World’ with selections written in the United States.” (Foofat participated in the League of American Orchestras’ 2018 Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview.) Lima Symphony concerts from November to April will feature music director candidates Enrico Lopez-Yañez, Roger Kalia, Kevin Sütterlin, Brian Eads, Andrew Crust, Steven Jarvi, and James Blachly.
