SANDRA MADDEN has been appointed executive director of Minnesota’s Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. Madden was previously general manager of the Colorado Symphony Association and executive director of the Madison Symphony Orchestra. She will begin in Duluth this June, taking the helm from interim executive director Kevin Peterson, who took a leave of absence from his role as a violist with the orchestra to lead the organization through a leadership transition. Madden goes to Duluth from Minocqua, Wisconsin, where she has been serving as executive director of the Campanile Center for the Arts as well as caring for her elderly parents. At the Campanile Center, she established an endowment and instituted new ticketing systems that increased earned and contributed revenue. Previously, she was director of development of the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in the Greater Milwaukee, and before that was vice president for operations and facilities and general manager of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. She also served as interim chief financial officer of the Colorado Ballet Association. Madden is a musician, playing the trumpet, and earned her bachelor of music degree at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
