“The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and its former chief conductor Daniele Gatti have made up, after a fashion,” writes Susan Elliott in Tuesday’s (4/23) MusicalAmerica.com (subscription required). “The orchestra fired Gatti in August 2018 after he was accused in a July 26 Washington Post article of sexual abuse. At the time the orchestra further reported ‘a number of female colleagues of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra reported experiences with Gatti, which are inappropriate considering his position as chief conductor.’ … Gatti still doesn’t have his job back, but the orchestra issued the following statement early this morning: ‘The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Maestro Daniele Gatti are pleased to announce that matters between the two parties have been resolved following extensive discussions….. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will release three special recordings conducted by Daniele Gatti: Richard Strauss’s Salome, Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 on CD and DVD and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9 on CD. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Maestro Daniele Gatti have agreed that no further announcements will be made.”
