The National Endowment for the Arts and the nonprofit Art Beyond Sight will present a free webinar, “Careers in the Arts: Promoting Access, Equity, and Inclusion for People with Disabilities,” on Thursday, May 16 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET. The webinar will be the first in a series tackling barriers people with disabilities may face when pursuing careers in the arts and culture field, and offering tools and resources that can help support success. Guest speakers—including Jennifer Sheehy, deputy assistant secretary for Disability Employment Policy at the U.S. Department of Labor; Jerron Herman, a professional dancer, writer, and motivational speaker; and Judith Smith, founder and director emerita of AXIS Dance Company—will take a high-level look at the roles played by arts employers, grantmakers, educators, and people with disabilities in employment of disabled people in the arts and cultural field.
