“San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra has selected Anthony Parnther as its next music director,” writes Fielding Buck in Friday’s (5/10) San Bernardino Sun (CA). “The Hollywood Hills resident was the first guest conductor to perform with the orchestra when it began its lengthy search for a leader in 2017. Parnther has an eclectic resume that includes film, TV and video game work. He has performed with artists ranging from violinist Joshua Bell and mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade to popular artists including the Wu-Tang Clan and Rihanna, according to his biography for the Southeast Symphony in Los Angeles, where he is also music director. Parnther was formerly music director for the Inland Valley Symphony, now the Temecula Valley Symphony…. The orchestra’s former conductor was Frank Paul Fetta, who departed at the end of the 2016-2017 season … Fetta stepped in for the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra after Carlo Ponti left in 2012…. Founded in 1929, the orchestra makes its home in the historic California Theatre of the Performing Arts, which opened as a movie theater and vaudeville house a year earlier in 1928. [The orchestra’s] 91st season will begin Sept. 14 with a performance of ‘Carmina Burana.’ ”
