On June 1, the Minnesota Orchestra will present “Love That Dare Not Speak,” a concert showcasing music of LGBTQ artists, at Orchestra Hall. Minnesota Orchestra violist Sam Bergman will serve as host, and Sarah Hicks, principal conductor of the orchestra’s Live at Orchestra Hall series, will lead the program, featuring music by Barber, Bernstein, Copland, Davies, Diamond, Higdon, Oliveros, Poulenc, Strayhorn, and Tchaikovsky. Also performing at the concert will be Twin Cities-based jazz vocalist Debbie Duncan and pianist Mary Louise Knutson. The concert is part of the orchestra’s Inside the Classics concerts, which also feature a pre-concert happy hour, local craft brews, and opportunities to meet musicians after the performance. The orchestra’s Inside the Classics series will continue next season but will be known as the “Sam and Sarah” series.
