The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the appointment of DWIGHT McGHEE as board president for a two-year term. McGhee begins as board president on July 1, 2019, succeeding R. Ranney Mize. McGhee joined the Louisiana Philharmonic’s board of trustees in 2017, and has co-chaired the orchestra’s Diversity and Inclusion Task Force since its inception in 2016. He is a native of Roselle, New Jersey and a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He attended the Tulane University Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program, where he received a commission in the U.S. Air Force and served 23 years. McGhee has long experience in the defense acquisition industry, serving as a contracts manager for companies including Teledyne CAE, Lockheed Martin, Textron Marine and Land Systems, the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Canadian Army. He is a member of the Military Order of Foreign Wars, Louisiana Commandery, life member of the Air Force Association, and a volunteer for Ascension of Our Lord Church’s Hearty Meals.
