“Jesse Rosen has set the wheels in motion for his retirement from the League of American Orchestras,” writes Susan Elliott in Tuesday’s (6/4) Musical America (subscription required). “He made the announcement today at the League’s annual national conference in Nashville. When he leaves in September 2020, Rosen will have been the League’s CEO for 12 years, capping a total tenure with the organization of 22 years. A recruitment and search committee have already been formed. ‘I’ve had an enormously fulfilling experience, but it’s time to begin thinking about the next chapter,’ said Rosen…. ‘The orchestra community has been a source of deep satisfaction and joy, and I’d like to remain a part of it in some new and different way.’ … Rosen has … been unafraid to its give members (2,000 and counting) a swift kick into the 21st century … with tact, grace, and humility. ‘Jesse uses his keen insights about orchestras’ roles in their communities to anticipate future challenges so we can prepare for them,’ [said] League Chair Douglas M. Hagerman…. Hagerman added that the League was ‘stable, well-capitalized, operationally strong, and has a great senior team. Jesse has set us up for success.’ ”
