Arizona’s Phoenix Symphony is reporting that it sold out its inaugural performance at the monOrchid gallery space in downtown Phoenix on May 24, in a new series called SYMPHNY: monOrchid. Approximately 200 people attended the concert at the Roosevelt Row warehouse, which was transformed into a satellite concert hall for the occasion. Patrons arriving early could visit a photobooth, sample cocktails, hear music performed by a Phoenix Symphony string quartet, and view artwork of Antoinette Cauley. The concert featured Music Director Tito Muñoz conducting space-themed music such as movements from Holst’s The Planets and selections from Star Wars. The concert was held in partnership with True North Studio, a real estate development company based in the monOrchid, a landmark arts and mixed-use building in the Roosevelt Row Arts District in downtown Phoenix. The orchestra’s main performance venue is Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix, and it also performs concerts in Scottsdale, Mesa, Prescott, and throughout central Arizona.
