The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in Minnesota has named CASSIE PILGRIM principal oboe, effective with the beginning of the 2019-20 season. A native of Chamblee, Georgia, Pilgrim has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared at summer festivals including Festival Mozaic, Music from Angel Fire, Aspen Music Festival, and the Colorado College Summer Music Festival. Pilgrim was recently an artist diploma student of Robert Walters at the Oberlin Conservatory and previously studied with Richard Woodhams at the Curtis Institute of Music and Elizabeth Koch Tiscione. She began studying the oboe at the age of 10. The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra’s 2019-20 season will spotlight wind instruments, and Pilgrim and the orchestra’s wind players will be featured a several programs. Pilgrim performed with the SPCO at its 2018-19 season finale concerts this June.
