The Orlando Philharmonic, Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras, and Creative City Project are seeking five bands or solo artists from multiple musical genres to play with live orchestra. In the “Orchestrate” program, the orchestras will collaborate with bands or solo performers to arrange orchestrations for two of their songs. The selected artists will rehearse with the Orlando Philharmonic and Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras and perform their songs in Downtown Orlando at Creative City Project’s IMMERSE 2019 festival. The IMMERSE event will feature 1,000 artists performing for an audience of 70,000 in Orlando’s streets and public spaces on October 18 and 19. “The Philharmonic is committed to performing orchestral music from the past, but we’re also interested in creating innovative contemporary musical experiences that explore where music is going,” says Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director Eric Jacobsen. FSYO Music Director Hanrich Claassen says, “We believe in giving our student performers diverse experiences. ‘Orchestrate’ is a great opportunity for our three organizations to work together to create something truly unique for all the artists involved.” Find application forms at http://www.creativecityproject.com/orchestrate. Submission deadline is Friday, July 19, and artists will be selected Friday, July 26.
