The Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival’s 2019 summer concert series kicked off on July 21 with an all-Dvořák program at Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church and will continue this week with a free July 24 outdoor program featuring the Project Fusion Saxophone Quartet. The twelve-concert festival based in Long Island, NY will present works throughout the season by women composers, including Louise Farrenc’s Sextet for Wind Quintet and Piano, Amy Beach’s Dreaming for solo piano, two works by Lili Boulanger for flute and piano, Missy Mazzoli’s Death Valley Junction for string quartet, and Victoria Kelly’s Good Night Kiwi for solo piano. The festival will conclude on August 18 with Saans, a piano trio by Indian-American composer Reena Esmail, on a program with Mozart’s Flute Quartet in D major, K. 285, and Brahms’s Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34. Also planned are Sofia Gubaidulina’s Sounds of the Forest for flute and piano, Anna Clyne’s Rest These Hands for solo violin, and works by Elizabeth Brown, Vivian Fung, Helen Grime, Jennifer Higdon, and Clare Shore. BCMF concerts take place at Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church and other venues in the Hamptons. Flutist Marya Martin is BCMF’s founder and artistic director, and Michael Lawrence is executive director.
