In November, the Utah Symphony will present “America’s Wonders in 3D,” showcasing 28 national parks and eleven U.S. cities in a performance pairing 3D images with live classical and contemporary symphonic music, with the Utah Symphony conducted by Conner Gray Covington. The November 19 performance at Abravanel Hall will mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Utah’s Zion National Park (in photo) on November 19, 1919. At the performance, 3D glasses will be distributed to concertgoers. Images of the sunrise over the Grand Canyon and flying over the Appalachian Mountains will be shown during Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite and Copland’s Appalachian Spring, and tenor Adam Fisher will perform “New York, New York” with the orchestra as images from Manhattan’s Times Square are displayed; Fisher will also perform “Viva Las Vegas” alongside images of the lights of Las Vegas and “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” with shots of the Golden Gate Bridge.
