Twelve composers have been selected for 2019 Copland House Residency Awards, which support all-expenses-paid, short-term stays at Aaron Copland’s home in New York’s Lower Hudson Valley to focus on their creative work. The composers, who range in age from 25 to 55 and write in a variety of musical genres, are Lembit Beecher, Luke Carlson, Chen Yihan, Joshua Hey, Amelia Kaplan, Emily Koh, Pascal LeBoeuf, Joel Love, Patrick O’Malley, Tawnie Olson, James Romig, and Christopher Zuar. The twelve, chosen by a jury that included Pierre Jalbert, Laura Kaminsky, and James Primosch, will create or develop works for orchestral, choral, chamber, and jazz ensembles during their residencies. Michael Boriskin is Copland House’s artistic and executive director.
