The Alabama Symphony Orchestra, based in Birmingham, has launched a drive to donate instruments to elementary and high schools throughout the city. The orchestra is accepting donations of new or “gently used” flutes, piccolos, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, French horns, trumpets, trombones, tubas, saxophones, violins, violas, cellos, and double basses through September 30 at its Birmingham office. For donations of higher-value instruments, the ASO will have tax write-off forms available on site. The instrument drive is part of the orchestra’s “Pass It On” campaign to help the next generation of student musicians.
