The musicians of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra have a new three-year collective bargaining agreement that runs through June 30, 2022. The contract calls for a 3 percent increase in subscription concert series performance and rehearsal service rates for the 2019-20 season, and a 5 percent increase for each of the next two seasons. Rates for education/outreach and contract service performance and rehearsals will increase by 3 percent in 2019-20 and 2.5 percent in each of the following two seasons. In addition, the contract includes a revision of the string rotation system and allowance for one appointment without audition per contract term to the core orchestra. Elaine Eckhart is executive director and Matthew Kraemer is music director of the ICO, which has 34 musicians and presents a seven-performance concert series at Schrott Center for the Arts, Butler Arts Center in Indianapolis; the ICO also serves as orchestra in residence for the Indiana State University Contemporary Music Festival and runs a variety of education initiatives and community programs.
