On Friday, September 20 at Lincoln Center, Orchestra Moderne NYC will present Women Warriors: The Voices of Change, a multimedia symphonic concert focusing on social justice and showcasing an original documentary on women’s rights accompanied by new scores from women composers. Amy Andersson, founder and conductor of Orchestra Moderne NYC, will lead the concert, at which music by eight female composers will be performed along with the screening of the Women Warriors documentary, which includes chapters that feature activists tackling issues including civil rights, climate change, human trafficking, women’s rights in Iran, child marriage, the AIDS/HIV crisis, and LGBTQ rights. Each chapter is paired with orchestral music, and the event will also include appearances by a human rights activist, a rapper, a vocalist, and an instrumental soloist.
