DALE HEDDING has been appointed vice president for development at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, effective December 2, 2019. Most recently, Hedding was managing director for external affairs and patron engagement at the Cleveland Institute of Music. From 2007 to 2014, Hedding was vice president of development for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He also served as director of development at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Phoenix Symphony, as well as manager of development at the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. As a member of the Boston-based Arts Consulting Group, Hedding worked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Bravo! Vail, and the League of American Orchestras on areas including executive searches, campaign planning and development assessment, and as interim chief development officer. Hedding holds a bachelor of music degree in trombone performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, a master of music degree from Kent State University, and a M.B.A from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He began his career as principal trombone in the U.S. Air Force Band of New England.
