Check it out: new Digital Media Digest

Posted on: October 7, 2019

With the accelerating pace of technological change, the League posts a monthly digest of relevant news and information regarding changes, trends, and developments that may affect the digital media activities that orchestras use. For each monthly digest, the League’s digital media consultants, Michael Bronson and Joe Kluger, draw from a variety of websites and publications to provide excerpts or summaries of articles. (These do not necessarily represent the views of the League.) Among the topics in the latest Digital Media Digest: the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra receives a $150,000 Futures Fund grant from the League of American Orchestras to test different approaches to delivering digital concerts; Toronto Symphony Orchestra aims to open classical music to a wider audience via digital tools; classical composer Michel van der Aa’s new opera integrates technology for a “mixed reality” performance; the Montreal Symphony Orchestra experiments with a fully immersive audio environment for phones; a comparison of how the new classical streaming audio services stack up. As a service of the League, members with questions about the information in this digest or about other digital media topics—e.g., planning, strategy, and production—may contact Michael Bronson at or Joe Kluger at
