JULIAN PELLICANO has been promoted from resident conductor to associate conductor at Canada’s Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. He was the WSO’s resident conductor for six seasons. As associate conductor, Pellicano will conduct most of the orchestra’s Pops series, lead all Night at the Movies concerts, a concert in the (B)eyond Classics series, and will perform in the Winnipeg New Music Festival, working with young composers in the WNMF Composer’s Institute. In addition, Pellicano begins as principal conductor of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet this season, and he will conduct the Louisiana Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony with Cincinnati Ballet, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, where he will conduct the Royal Winnipeg Ballet on tour. Highlights from his 2018-19 season included debuts with the Seattle Symphony, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. He was a guest conductor at the Yale School of Music and celebrated his tenth year as artist-in-residence at Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.
