MELISSA OUSLEY is the new host of Classical Minnesota Public Radio’s live broadcasts of Minnesota Orchestra concerts. She succeeds Classical MPR Managing Director Brian Newhouse, who signed off from the live broadcast in June after more than 25 years. Newhouse will continue to lead MPR and American Public Media’s classical programming. Ousley has served as substitute host for Newhouse in recent years, and will continue to host Classical MPR’s live broadcasts of the Minnesota Opera and serve as fill-in host for Classical MPR and its online Classical24. Ousley began her career in broadcasting as a classical host, music director and producer at Radio Kansas before becoming a classical host at WCAL public radio station in Northfield, Minnesota. In 2004, she became assistant music director and classical music producer for Classical MPR and Classical24 in St. Paul. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and attended the Preparatory Division of the Manhattan School of Music. Minnesota Public Radio has broadcast weekly concerts by the Minnesota Orchestra since 1974. The station also regularly broadcasts performances by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
