The festival will open with Caroline Shaw’s Three Essays, Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 18, No. 4, and Schubert’s String Quintet in C, D. 956. Featured festival repertoire will include Rebecca Clarke’s Morpheus, Marc Mellits’s Apollo, Guillaume Connesson’s Techno Parade, Erwin Schulhoff’s Five Pieces for String Quartet, and Ludwig Thuille’s Sextet in B flat major, Op. 6, as well as music by composers ranging from Bach and Ravel to Shostakovich and Villa-Lobos. Clive Greensmith was a member of the Tokyo String Quartet from 1999 until its final year, 2013.
