LISA DELL has been appointed executive director of the California Symphony in Walnut Creek, effective November 15. Dell is currently assistant vice president at the Silverman Group, a Chicago-based consulting firm specializing in nonprofits and the performing arts, where she worked to raise the profiles of classical music institutions including Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Grant Park Music Festival, Music of the Baroque, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Latino Music Festival, North Shore Chamber Music Festival, and Merit School of Music. New-music organizations she has worked with include Fulcrum Point New Music Project, Access Contemporary Music, and the Ear Taxi Festival of New Music. In 2008, she co-founded the chamber music ensemble Anaphora, which became known for its innovative programming. Previously, Dell led marketing and media relations for the nonprofit Cinema/Chicago and its Chicago International Film Festival. She attended high school at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in marketing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
