The inaugural International Florence Price Festival, presented in partnership with the University of Maryland School of Music, will take place from August 20 to 23 in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. metro area. The festival will feature lectures and panels on the significance of African American composer Florence Price (1887-1953) and her contemporaries, as well as performances of her music. The festival has assembled Price performers, scholars, and advocates on its board of directors and advisory committee, including tenor Marquese Carter, the festival’s president, as well as Douglas Shadle, A. Kori Hill, Patrick Dailey, Er-Gene Kahng, John Jeter, Samantha Ege, and Jordan Randall Smith. The festival line-up will include a diverse range of performers and composers.
