“When Keitaro Harada climbs the podium on Sept. 17, the Savannah Philharmonic will be entering a new era, not only on the stage but in image as well,” writes Zach Dennis in Monday’s (2/24) Savannah Morning News (Georgia). “The name will stay but changes have shifted the fabric of the organization from Harada’s new role as the music and artistic director to the logo and slate of events the Phil will offer.… For Harada, it wasn’t about uprooting the infrastructure, but finding better ways to utilize the best portions of the Philharmonic with the best portions of Savannah as a community…. The new logo will lead the way for the ‘new era’ mantra the organization is taking into the 2020-21 season.… [One] goal for this next year is to remind people that the orchestra is not just based downtown but will be flowing around Chatham County. That goal especially was highlighted in their new initiative, ‘SavPhil on the Road,’ which will be bringing the Philharmonic to various outside communities.… Kitaro added that while many old favorites will make their way into the new season … he hopes to introduce new types of classical pieces.”
