With arts venues in Singapore currently closed, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra has launched a three-month digital season called SSOPlayOn! through which it will post concerts across its online platforms on specific days of the week. Until the end of June, the video and audio releases will include newly recorded concerts, performances of works by Singapore-based composers, as well as never-before-released archival recordings. Saturdays and Sundays will feature archived concerts and an “SSO Live & Digital Premieres” series of concerts newly recorded from musicians’ homes and YouTube premieres of previously unreleased concert videos. The season launched April 4 on YouTube with the orchestra’s January 2019 performance of Mahler’s Second Symphony, conducted by Lan Shui in his final concert as music director.
