“The Cleveland Institute of Music has found a way to keep classical music playing in the time of coronavirus,” writes Anne Nickoloff in Monday’s (4/13) Plain Dealer (Cleveland, OH). “The school has been sharing some of its favorite bits of archived footage on Facebook three times a week—Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays—since March 23. The videos feature classical performances and operas by ensembles and solo artists affiliated with CIM.… This week’s scheduled video streams: Today, 6 p.m.: CIM will share an archived performance of Four Sketches for Brass Quintet by composer Anthony Plog, which originally took place on Dec. 3, 2019. Wednesday, 6 p.m.: Wednesday’s show will feature Robert Schumann’s Violin Sonata in A Minor, Movement 16, which was originally performed on Feb. 1, 2020. Friday, 12:30 p.m.: Watch a May 6, 2019 performance featuring two pieces: Alexandre Tansman’s Sonatine for Bassoon and Piano and Georg Philipp Telemann’s Bassoon Sonata in F Minor, TWV 41:f1. You can find more information about the video streams on CIM’s website.”
