“It’s the official state song of Georgia, and it’s even more fitting today during the coronavirus pandemic,” reads an unsigned Tuesday (5/13) report at Atlanta’s WSB-TV. “ ‘Georgia on My Mind’ has been around for decades and remains a special song to Georgians. But the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performed its version of the classic while practicing social distancing. The ASO released this version on Tuesday to honor the front line workers for International Nurses Day. The special arrangement was done by Principal Tuba Michael Moore and performed by the ASO Brass Quintet. The video features some of Georgia’s most famous landmarks and the natural beauty of the state. The ASO posted the video on its Facebook page, writing ‘❤️To the frontline workers, the nurses, the moms and dads and everyone working hard to keep us safe, this one’s for you.’ ”
