On May 21 at 2 p.m. ET, Carnegie Hall will host an online tribute to American cellist Lynn Harrell, who died in April at age 76. Twelve fellow cellists will celebrate Harrell’s life with performances of Klengel’s Hymnus and the Preludio from Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas brasileiras No. 1. Performers will include Gautier Capuçon, Evelyn De Silva-Maisky, Zlatomir Fung, Alban Gerhardt, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Yo-Yo Ma, Mischa Maisky, Johannes Moser, Daniel Müller-Schott, Christian Poltéra, Jan Vogler, and Alisa Weilerstein. The online tribute is part of Carnegie Hall’s “Live With Carnegie Hall” series of live-streamed performances being offered during the pandemic. The event will be streamed at Facebook and Instagram.
