The Los Angeles Philharmonic, YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), LA Phil Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel, and soprano J’Nai Bridges will be among the musicians scheduled to perform in Global Citizen’s “Global Goal: United for Our Future” streamed broadcast on June 27 at 2 p.m. ET. Actor Dwayne Johnson will host the event on Global Citizen’s YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook pages. The broadcast aims to raise funds for free access to testing and treatment for COVID-19 around the world. Other performers include Shakira, Coldplay, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, and Lin-Manuel Miranda and the original Broadway cast of Hamilton with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. The performances are part of a daylong streamed summit with leaders, corporations, and philanthropists about the development and equitable distribution of COVID-19 treatments. The summit will feature panel discussions and interviews, moderated by journalists Katie Couric, Mallika Kapur, Morgan Redford, Isha Sesay, and Keir Simmons. Joining the conversation will be advocates including artists and activists Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Miley Cyrus, Angelique Kidjo, and Ken Jeong.
