“At 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11, The Avenue Viera will welcome a pop-up drive-in … as the Space Coast Symphony kicks off its summer concerts with a safe dose of culture” in Melbourne, Florida, writes Maria Sonnenberg in Monday’s (7/6) Florida Today (Brevard County, FL). “Six fresh air concerts with plenty of social distancing, elbow room and healthy air flow will allow the Symphony musicians to be in front of an audience…. 225 parking spaces [will be] available to accommodate music lovers…. Acrylic barriers will safely separate musicians from each other during the performances. ‘The musicians will be on risers and spaced adequately,’ … said artistic director and Symphony founder Aaron Collins. As for masks, some musicians will don them, but [wind musicians] will have to go without…. Attendees can remain in their cars or set up their own seating next to their vehicles…. ‘Our primary goal is to ensure the safety of everyone who attends our programs,’ said Collins. ‘I think this concept is workable and very safe for our attendees.’ … Treasure Coast residents can enjoy the shows in their home turf,” with drive-up appearances in the parking lot of Pathway Church in Vero Beach on Fridays preceding the Brevard performances.
