“The Palm Beach Symphony is continuing to make a difference in the lives of young music enthusiasts,” writes Brett Shweky in Wednesday’s (7/15) South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “With the mission of educating and inspiring the Palm Beach County community in orchestral music, the non-profit arts organization recently donated violins to two deserving local elementary school students. U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts fifth-grader Sarah Zarazua and Wellington Preparatory School fourth-grader Alanis Lopez were the recipients of the instruments. Since being founded in 1974, the Palm Beach Symphony has donated refurbished instruments to underserved children or school music programs in the Palm Beach County area…. Sarah began playing the violin in kindergarten and has grown to become a member of the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County’s String Orchestra. As she continues her studies at Bak Middle School of the Arts, Sarah will upgrade from her school-owned instrument to the donated violin made by F. M. Bertucci in Rome. Alanis Lopez, who has been playing on a rented violin, received a full-size Western European violin…. The Palm Beach Symphony also holds children’s concerts, student coaching sessions, master classes and free public concerts.”
