On September 19 and 20, the Lake George Music Festival will present two drive-in programs at the Lake George Festival of Commons in Lake George, New York. Concerts will feature music including the Beethoven Quintet for Piano and Winds, Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet, and Rubinstein’s Octet, Op. 9. Cars will be parked every other space and in single rows for social distancing. Guests may watch the concerts from their cars or their own chairs, within arm’s length of their vehicles. The audience will have the option to listen to the amplified performance or to an FM radio feed through their car’s sound system. Those who order passes online will have their cars’ license plates scanned upon arrival, and then be directed where to park. Festival participants comprise professional orchestra musicians; students of music conservatories; faculty and alumni from music institutions; and emerging professional musicians. Due to COVID-19, Lake George Music Festival 2020 was adapted this summer into a virtual festival, which includes six online concerts, September 13-18. The festival’s president and CEO is Alexander Lombard, artistic director is Barbora Kolářová, and Roger Kalia is music director.
