On September 25 and 26 at the Field at Stanley Marketplace in Aurora, Colorado, the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra will perform concerts featuring 22 string musicians from the orchestra, led by Music Director Lawrence Golan. The concerts will be performed outdoors, with audience size limited to 175 people in accordance with state government regulations, and 10-by-10-foot boxes with 6-foot buffers marked on the field for audience groups of up to eight people. Repertoire will include the world premiere of Christopher Marshall’s Threnody, plus Grieg’s From Holberg’s Time Suite in Olden Style, op. 40, Walker’s Lyric for Strings, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik. Before the concert, Diane Worthey will sign copies of her 2020 children’s book In One Ear and Out the Other: Antonia Brico and Her Amazingly Musical Life.” Brico, a conductor and pianist, founded the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra in 1948.
