“The Grand Rapids Symphony has created an innovative fall 2020 season featuring six virtual concerts, with the first concert on Sept. 25” featuring the orchestra and the Grand Rapids Ballet in Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, writes Jada Fisher in Friday’s (9/25) MLive.com (Michigan). “The new ‘Pathwaves’ series includes a variety of music and diverse composers in an effort to reflect the waves of hope leading the community down a path of healing, according to a news release.” The live-streamed concerts will be performed “from a multistage setup in the Van Andel Arena and the intimate chamber setting at St. Cecilia Music Center…. Concerts will feature performances by socially distanced orchestral ensembles, performed without intermission. Concerts will include a live audience when health and safety requirements allow. The symphony will return to DeVos Performance Hall in January 2021, with programs to be announced at a later date. Previously announced programming for the 2020-2021 season will be rescheduled for the 2021-2022 season as feasible. Current 2020-2021 subscribers will receive access to live streams as a part of their subscriptions, plus the DeVos Performance Hall concerts in 2021. They will also be eligible to attend concerts in-person as audiences are permitted to return.”
