The Binghamton Philharmonic will launch the first of two “Social Gathering Concerts” with a chamber program on October 24 featuring Concertmaster Uli Speth and Principal Piano Tomoko Kanamaru, at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Binghamton, New York. The concerts will follow New York State health and safety guidelines and feature one or two solo musicians from the Binghamton Philharmonic’s roster. Attendance is limited to 45 or fewer audience members. Attendees and musicians will remain masked, chairs will be distanced throughout the hotel ballroom, and the BPO will oversee contact tracing along with other health measures. A second concert, on November 14, will feature BPO Principal Cello Hakan Tayga performing music by Bach and Ligeti. “As everyone knows, while it’s now possible to go out to restaurants, there isn’t a whole lot to do before or afterwards,” says BPO Executive Director Paul Cienniwa. “Our Social Gathering Concerts provide the opportunity for a night out on the town.”
