“The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra will host a special outdoor concert Oct. 17, with social distancing and best practices in place due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,” reads an unsigned article in Friday’s (10/9) Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (TX). “The performance, titled ‘A Surprise Symphony!,’ will be at the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. ‘We are thrilled to offer a special concert experience to our patrons ahead of our 2020-21 season,’ said Galen Wixson, president and CEO.” The program will include the Prelude from Grieg’s Holberg Suite; the Pizzicato Polka, Blue Danube Waltz, and Radetzky March by Johann Strauss II; and the Overture to Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. “The LSO has taken extra precautions to ensure the safety of their patrons during the COVID-19 pandemic. Masks are required, temperatures will be taken at the door and all attendees are asked to maintain a distance of at least six feet from patrons outside of their party. All tickets are general admission and sold in pods. Each pod can hold up to four people. Only one ticket is needed for each pod.”
