In Colorado, the Boulder City Council and Governor Jared Polis are proclaiming November 7, 2020 Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras Day, in recognition of organization’s tenth year. The proclamations can be seen at http://www.greaterboulderyo.org/. The Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras, founded in 2010, comprises three orchestras and a wind ensemble as well as chamber groups for students aged 6 to 21 from approximately 45 different schools in Colorado. Students from the GBYO performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as part of the SHIFT Festival in 2017; this season, the organization is offering in-person rehearsals, online music labs, chamber music, and free special events with guest artists including beatbox flutist Greg Pattillo, Colorado Symphony Concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams, and violinist and educator Midori.
