On November 15 at 3 p.m., the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will co-present an open-air concert with Ballet Arkansas in downtown Little Rock in front of Matt McLeod’s “Beneath the Surface” mural. The hourlong concert will feature live performances by both organizations. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will play Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round, Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and Augusta Read Thomas’s Magic Box. Ballet Arkansas dancers Matthew Larson, Paul Tillman, Megan Tillman, Hannah Bradshaw, and Isabelle Urben will perform new choreography to all three works. The concert—free to the public, with reservations required—has been approved by the Arkansas Department of Health, with social distancing and masks required for all attendees. Christina Littlejohn is chief executive officer of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra; the interim artistic director is Geoffrey Robson, with the orchestra’s music director search postponed to the 2021-22 season.
