Every December for the past five years, musicians from Kentucky’s Owensboro Symphony have performed daily for staff, patients, and visitors at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital as part of Music On Call, the orchestra’s community engagement program. During the pandemic, the orchestra collaborated with Owensboro Health and St. Stephen Cathedral for a recording session in the cathedral featuring a French horn quartet and a viola choir. Both ensembles performed and recorded holiday favorites, which are being broadcast on the hospital’s in-house television system for staff, visitors, and patients throughout the month of December.
