Ohio’s Canton Symphony Orchestra will launch the first episode of its new “Orchestrating Change” podcast on January 8. Co-hosted by Education Manager Rachel Hagemeier and Associate Conductor Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz, the podcasts are a platform for discussion about diversity and inclusion in the orchestral community, with guests to include Black, Latinx, Asian, female, and LGBTQIA+ musicians, composers, and administrators. The inaugural podcast episode, “The Importance of Perspective,” will feature conductor Kelly Corcoran as guest. Guests on later episodes will include pianist Sara Davis Buechner, musicologist Destinee Siebe, Canton Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Michelle Charles, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Marie-Hélène Bernard, and Buffalo Philharmonic Music Director JoAnn Falletta. In announcing the series, the orchestra said it hopes “to be a more welcoming community that is reflective of the demographics in Canton, Ohio and the surrounding major metropolitan areas.” More information at https://www.cantonsymphony.org/.
