“Because of a pandemic-induced delay in receiving key acoustical equipment for its new stage, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra will push the opening of its new concert hall and virtual season back two weeks,” writes Jim Higgins in Friday’s (1/8) Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (WI). “MSO’s first concert in the new Allen-Bradley Hall of the Bradley Symphony Center will now take place Feb. 6, rather than the previously scheduled Jan. 23 date…. A small, socially distanced group of musicians will perform on stage. The concert will be streamed to subscribers and available on demand…. The MSO plans a season of 12 Classical concerts, hosted by music director Ken-David Masur, and four Pops concerts, performed on Saturday evenings and made available to subscribers virtually. The rescheduling affects four programs [February 6, 13, 20, and 27].… The remainder of the previously announced virtual season stays the same…. The MSO has transformed the former Warner Grand Theatre … into its new performing home … plus an accompanying 12-story Art Deco office tower and … lobby and event space. But for the time being, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and city health regulations, audiences will see the new hall solely through their computer and phone screens.”
