“The Kansas City Symphony will not allow in-person attendance for performances scheduled in January, it announced Thursday,” wines David Medina in Thursday’s (1/14) KSHB-TV (Kansas City, MO). “The symphony previously announced it would allow people at 20% percent capacity beginning on Jan. 17. However, it chose to delay in-person attendance until further notice to comply with Kansas City, Missouri’s latest COID-19 public health guidelines. ‘As much as we were looking forward to once again performing in front of in-person audiences, we must take into account the most important element—keeping people safe,’ KC Symphony Executive Director Danny Beckley said. ‘The recent spike in positive test results in the metro area concerns us. Our decision to delay in-person audiences was made with deep consideration, and keeps us consistent with the recent extension of large-gathering guidelines issued by Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas.’ People can still watch performances online through a new digital streaming platform. The symphony did not say when it plans to resume in-person attendance to its concerts.”
